Looe Boat Owner Association & Looe BoatwatchLooe Boat Owners Association (LBOA) launched Looe Boatwatch in June 2007 in partnership with Devon & Cornwall Police and continues to be very successful. There have been no reported boat related crimes at all in 2009 in the Looe area and the police put this success down to Looe Boatwatch. Members of Looe Boat Owners Association automatically become members of Looe boatwatch when they join LBOA (see our website www.lboa.co.uk for more details). Other areas such as Polruan, Saltash and Fowey have been less fortunate and there has been significant boat related crime during the summer. However, the police have warned against complacency and as boats are either left in the water or in boatyards for the winter owners are advised to remove anything of value. This is a time of year when thieves are looking for easy pickings especially in the period leading up to Christmas. The police website details are: www.devon-cornwall.police.uk General enquiries: 08452 777444 to report a crime and for information and advice Devon & Cornwall CRIMESTOPPERS: 088 555 111 Again, Looe Boatwatch efforts have also been recognised by the Devon & Cornwall Community Watch Association (DaCCWA) from whom we have received a Certificate of Excellence for our commitment to reduce boat related thefts and are short-listed into the six finalists for Coordinator of the Year 2008.
